West Coast Swing Classes Overview:

The dance program is designed to take a non-dancer and teach the student to dance West Coast Swing.  The student will start in the Novice class and advance to the higher skill level classes that follow.  Students that already know some West Coast Swing may enter the Intermediate classes upon approval of the Instructor, however, it is recommended that all students start at the beginning so as to review the basics of this dance and the teaching style of the Instructor.

Each night of class the student will learn one or two or more new moves. We will drill/practice each move until the class has mastered it.  When a move has been mastered then a new move is introduced.

"Drop-in" students are allowed on Instructor approval.

Novice Division (aka Level I/II)

This is an 6-lesson program where the student learns the basic moves of West Coast Swing in a choreographed 10-12 move series. Upon completion the student will feel very comfortable dancing this dance in public.  Additionally, lead/follow techniques, the rules/protocols of swing, dance frame, the music, timing, and other related items are taught

.

Intermediate Division (aka Level III)

There are several different sets of moves totaling over 100 moves.  Each session will add approximately 8-10 moves to the previous moves of the Novice and Intermediate sessions.  These are intermediate level moves that are somewhat complicated and are designed to increase the skill level of the student in a progressive manner

.

Advanced-Intermediate Division (aka Level IV)

We have approximately 70 Advance-Intermediate moves that are in addition to the moves learned in the above Divisions. These moves and techniques are more difficult than those learned in the Intermediate Division and requires a much higher skill level to accomplish them.  Since they are for higher level dancers, the minimum requirement to attend this division's class is a minimum of dancing for 1 year and having successfully learned the material in the above classes.  Instructor approval is a prerequisite for this class.

Referral Policy:  If you are enrolled in any of our class sessions, and you send us a NEW student (for any class session), then you'll get a $5 credit toward your next class session - send 2 couples, you get a $20 credit.  Note that this applies only to Students who are currently enrolled in our full session class.  This does not apply if you haven't been enrolled in the past and you bring someone with you to class and you enroll at the same time; this also does not apply to Drop-In students - this policy applies ONLY to full session students..

Policies & Procedures

1)  We will accept drop-in Intermediate or higher level students.  These are students that can only attend classes on an irregular schedule.  The Drop-in student fee will be $12 per class.

2)  Classes will run on a 6 week schedule, which is normally 6 weeks 1 night per week.  Cost will be $49 for the 6 week session.

3)  Each class is approximately 45 minutes long.  The last 15 minutes of class will be practice time with music.  During this 15 minute musical practice, Donna and I will help any student with any questions about the current night's moves, or previous night's moves if they had attended that class.

4) Referral Policy:  If you are enrolled in any of our class sessions, and you send us a NEW student (for any class session), then you'll get a $5 credit toward your next class session - send 2 couples, you get a $20 credit.  Note that this applies only to Students who are currently enrolled in our full session class.  This does not apply if you haven't been enrolled in the past and you bring someone with you to class and you enroll at the same time; this also does not apply to Drop-In students - this policy applies ONLY to full session students..
