Hi Everyone,

We have a great group of very dedicated, loyal and fun lovin’ students and dancers who meet with us every Wednesday & Friday at China Harbor. We’d all love to have you join our fun class and dance party tonight (Wednesday) and/or this Friday.

This Saturday I’ll be spinnin’ the dance tunes for our monthly Swing & Everything Dance at the North Bellevue Community Center. This has been a consistently well attended dance with a variety of dancers and dance styles. Join talented instructors Tom Riza & Kathi Urban of U-R Dancing for an East Coast Swing lesson at 7:00. This Sunday Jackie & I will be teaching a 2-hour workshop for the SSDC at the Alki Masonic Temple in West Seattle. Join us at 2:45 for a “Get Swing into your West Coast Swing” class and at 4:00 for some “Fun Moves and Rhythms That Really Swing! I’ll be your DJ for the dance from 5:00-9:00. We will be having a special Halloween Costume Swing Dance Party at our Wild Wednesday Swing Night on October 31^st at China Harbor. Join Dracula and his scary friends for an especially wild swing dance party with a costume contest and $50 cash prize to the best individual or couple’s costume. Costumes are encouraged but not required. No class on that Wednesday.

As we continue to work towards building a vibrant West Coast Swing dance community in the greater Seattle area (17 straight years of weekly classes for all levels and 15 straight years of weekly dances) we will soon be making some changes to our programs. Beginning Nov 7 will offer a Beginner’s West Coast class at 7:00. Our Intermediate class will be at 8:00 and the dance party from 9:00-Midnight. Online credit card purchases will soon be available at no added fee. Other changes will be announced in upcoming newsletters.

Please feel free to approach me in the DJ booth, just to say hello, make a request or tell me when you like a song I’ve just played. I welcome your feedback. Also tell me the titles of your favorite songs either in person or by email and I’ll play them for you when I see you come in the door!

I started taking lessons from Terry and Jackie over 13 years ago. I was so intimidated by West Coast Swing. I had tried it way back in the '80s and found it hard to learn. Not so with Terry and Jackie! I took lessons for two years and learned to love West Coast Swing; it became my favorite dance!  I dance West Coast Swing to all different types of music and found it was the most versatile.   West Coast Swing IS still a “swing dance”. It “swings” in specific ways and at specific times & places in the dance. And just as it takes Two to Tango so does it take Two to Swing.
