Lesson before dance: Yes
Floor Condition: Excellent
Comments: Top of Beardsleys is one of the longest running weekly dances in the Bay Area, if not the longest.  DJ Phil Trau plays mostly R&B, what I would term "classic WCS".  The dance crowd is primarily an older crowd.  Phil will take requests and occasionally play more modern music.  There is a bar at the establishment, meaning attendee SHOULD BE 21 and over.  Since there is a bar, free refreshment is not provided.  For an older establishment, the floor is in excellent condition. There are plenty of seating, along with some folding tables.  Ventilation is good as I've never felt hot there; I guess the A/C works really well.  The neighborhood is OK.  There are plenty of street parking, in front and behind the establishment.  If you're looking for a place to eat, this venue is ideally situated.  Beardsley's is on the edge of downtown San Mateo, where there are plenty in downtown San Mateo, so eat before you get there.

Directions:   From SFO area go South on 101, take the 3rd Street exit headed West (into downtown San Mateo), right on B Street, pass Trag's Market (on the left), and look for the green awning for the Peninsula Social Club on the right.  It's upstairs.
